Meet Dr. Emily O. McLean, founder of The Eastover Clinic

Emily O. McLean, MD, FAAD, MSCP, is a board-certified dermatologist and founder of The Eastover Clinic in Charlotte. She cares for children and adults, offering medical and cosmetic dermatology, skin cancer screening and treatment, and evaluation of hair loss.

She has a particular interest in the skin and hair changes of perimenopause and menopause. In 2025, she became a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, bringing additional training in midlife health to her practice.

Dr. McLean earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her dermatology residency at Boston University School of Medicine and holds an undergraduate degree from Wellesley College. She has practiced dermatology in Charlotte since 2019.

She authored “Analysis of the Aging Face,” the opening chapter of the Comprehensive Textbook of Cosmetic Dermatology, Laser and Energy-based Therapies. The chapter establishes a framework for evaluating facial aging and planning aesthetic treatments.

Her research has examined melanoma, health disparities, and patient communication. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, where she has served as a board observer and committee chair.

Outside of clinic, she enjoys time with her husband, two daughters, and their dog, Radley. She is a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church and enjoys playing mahjong with friends.
